A mixology classic, "completely revised and greatly enlarged into an unabridged encyclopedia of all popular beverages." Boothby (died 1930) was a legendary San Francisco bartender, the mixologist at the Palace Hotel for many years. His cocktail recipes were first published in 1891, with a fourth edition appearing in 1908.
